TRCMPU announces winners of painting, quiz contests for students

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 22: Alina AP of Carmel GHS School bagged the first prize in water colour painting competition conducted by Trivandrum Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) of Milma for students of High schools and Higher Secondary schools ahead of the National Milk Day celebrations.

Aditya Raj from Chinmaya Vidyalaya School won the second prize and Parvathi AR of GHSS Manacaud lifted the third prize. The event was held at Milma’s Ambalathara dairy here on Monday.

A total of 19 students turned up for the painting competition.

Sourav SS and Ashwin VJ team from Venjaramoodu Govt. High School bagged the first prize in the quiz competition held on Tuesday. Veni M Nair and Adwaith A team from VVHSS Nemom; and Mithun DP and Dhanjay Krishna team from New Higher Secondary School Nellimoodu won the second and third prizes respectively.

The country celebrates November 26 as the National Milk Day, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s White Revolution.

“It is interesting to note that most paintings captured glimpses from the lives of farmers. This shows that the students are aware of the key role of farmers in sustaining the primary sector of the country’s economy, especially the dairy sector,” said TRCMPU Administrative Committee Convener Shri N Bhasurangan.

The prizes of the competitions will be presented at a function at Ksheera Bhavan, Pattom, on November 24, at 12 noon.

TRCMPU has also made arrangements for the public to view various processes at its Thiruvananthapuram Dairy in the city on November 25 and 26 as part of the National Milk Day celebrations.

On both days people can visit the Thiruvananthapuram Dairy at Ambalathara to watch various stages of the processes from pooling milk procured by the milk co-operative societies, pasteurisation at the plant with the help of the state-of-the-art machinery and packaging and marketing of the processed milk and other dairy products through sales points.

Also, the visitors will get an opportunity to see production of other products of Milma like ghee, curd, cheese and ice cream.
