Schools from TVM, Pathanamthitta win south zone ‘OISCA Milma Green Quest 2022’

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 5: Nakul Shyam and Kumar Gopal Siddharth team of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, secured the first position in the Kerala south zone ‘OISCA Milma Green Quest 2022’, held here today.

The team comprising Devika G Omanakuttan and Sooryakiran S L of NSS HSS Choorakode, Pathanamthitta, bagged second position and Fathima S and Nikhita A R duo of GHSS Koickal, Kollam came third at the competition held at St Thomas Residential School, Mukkolakkal.

The teams that emerge first and second in the zonal competitions qualify for the grand finale to be held in Palakkad on November 19.

Deputy Mayor, Thiruvananthapuram, Shri P K Raju gave away the prizes to the winners of the quiz competition jointly conducted by Japan-based environmental organisation OISCA International and Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), known by its brand name Milma.

Milma Marketing Manager, Shri Gopakumar A and Trivandrum Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) Marketing Head, Smt Jaya Raghavan felicitated the south zone winners.

President OISCA Kerala Chapter Shri Ali Asgar Pasha, OISCA District President R Ajayan, its Executive Secretary Shri V P Sasidharan, Chief coordinator Shri P K Nalinakshan, District Executive Member Shri Satheesh were also present on the occasion.

In all, seven teams from four southern districts contested in the zonal round, conducted by quiz master Shri K P Sunil, CEO, Quizzario, Kochi.

Principal of St Thomas Residential School, Shri Babykutty spoke.

Aimed to instil environmental awareness in young minds, the quiz competition covered topics related to nature, agriculture, environmental issues, green initiatives, current affairs and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Winners from the zonal-level competitions held in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode will contest in the grand finale.

Besides trophies, study tours and certificates from OISCA, the winners of the Grand finale will get a cash prize of Rs. One Lakh.
