Trivandrum / September 19, 2026

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept.19: The engineering laboratory of Technopark has been given accreditation by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), making it the first IT Park in the country to get the coveted recognition.

The certification (ISO/IEC 17025:2017) has been given for creating facilities and meeting the criteria of general requirements for competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

Congratulating the officials and support staff on getting the NABL accreditation, Shri Sandeep Kumar, IAS, CEO, Technopark, said with the recognition, Technopark has become only IT Park in the country which has a NABL accredited engineering laboratory for ensuring Quality and Sustainable Infrastructure Development Works.

Technopark opened civil and electrical engineering laboratories on its Phase I campus last year.

“The facility is a testament to ensuring the standards and quality assurance of the construction and electrical works, including the LT & HT materials. The lab has positioned Technopark to ensure the quality of its infrastructure works as well as providing necessary technical guidance to its co-developers,” the CEO added.

“This is a significant achievement for Technopark and the Engineering Department. The task was challenging and required sustained effort, dedication and close coordination as a team. Through our collective commitment, we were able to successfully accomplish it. We now look forward to taking this momentum forward and working towards the next phase said Shri Madhavan Praveen, Chief Technical Officer, Technopark.

The NABL-accredited Engineering Laboratory will further strengthen quality control across infrastructure works undertaken by Technopark supporting informed engineering decisions, improved material-performance verification, stronger compliance monitoring, and enhanced reliability in the delivery and maintenance of world-class built infrastructure.  The labs are designed to serve as a hub for testing various parameters and the quality of construction and electrical materials used in Technopark's works.

The Engineering Department of Technopark has developed laboratories to perform tests according to IS specifications and provide results in a timely manner. Developers and companies located in and around Technopark can also utilize this lab to ensure quality and compliance with their construction specifications.

The electrical lab has provisions for repairing LED fixtures, drivers, and other components, which could reduce e-waste and cut costs. The laboratory currently has facilities for testing concrete and construction materials for various parameters.

Shri Rahul Thampi, Asst. Vice President (Civil), is heading all the activities of the Civil Engineering Laboratory with support of his team. The lab also has antique machinery on display, which sheds light on past technology.
