Come to Kanakakkunnu, Allumol is here to give you a facelift

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 27: Allumol, known for transforming faces into artistic canvases, is the star of this year's Onam week celebrations at Kanakakkunnu. 

People of all ages, from children to adults, are eagerly waiting to experience Allumol's unique face painting skills.

Allumol is set to adorn the faces and eyelids of visitors to the Onam celebrations with their favourite designs. 

Tourism Minister PC Vishnunadh had visited Allumol on Monday as the decorative lights started illuminating the venue. In addition to face painting, Allumol also offers caricatures and live paintings.

The artwork Allumol creates on people's faces showcases a vibrant imagination, reflecting the colours in her mind despite losing partial vision at the age of one.

According to Allumol, the most popular designs feature butterflies, Onam thumbis (dragonflies), and flowers. 

She charges a modest fee for her paintings, which typically takes 5-10 minutes to complete. Allumol proudly donates the proceeds to charitable organisations.

Recognising Allumol's exceptional passion for painting from a young age, her parents, V Madhu and Leni, encouraged her artistic pursuits.

She started participating in competitions from the fourth grade. Allumol attended a regular school until the eighth grade and later shifted to a special school.

In addition to her artistic talents, Allumol excels academically. She achieved outstanding grades in her 10th grade, Plus Two, and Bachelor of Fine Arts. 

Allumol has also distinguished herself in dance forms such as Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, and folk dance, training under Methil Devika.

Hailing from Idayaranmula in Pathanamthitta, she has been recognised as Kalathilakam multiple times at the district Kalolsavam, and panchayat and block levels in the Keralolsavam.
