KSUM’s Fab Lab Kerala launches second edition of ‘MakerSprint’

Trivandrum / July 7, 2026

Thiruvananthapuram, July 07: Fab Lab Kerala of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has launched the second edition of ‘MakerSprint,’ a structured digital fabrication programme that aims to help aspiring makers take their products from the concept stage to functional prototype level.

The six-day workshop will commence at Fab Lab Kerala’s centre at Technopark Phase-1 in the city on July 13.

It has been designed around the unique concept of "5 Tools in 6 Days" learning model. The intensive workshop will provide aspiring makers hands-on training to transform their concepts into functional prototypes.

The programme is aimed at empowering participants with the confidence to prove their concepts using digital fabrication tools without facing technical hurdles.

At the workshop, participants will share ideas, gain knowledge, and receive training on both open-source and proprietary software. The comprehensive curriculum covers five key machineries—Laser cutting, CNC machining, PCB milling, 3D printing and Vinyl Cutting. Participants can build specific products on each of these categories. After mastering these individual machines, participants will collaborate to build a final working prototype product, such as a home theatre sound system, which they can take home.

The programme is scheduled to be conducted periodically, creating regular opportunities for individuals to gain industry-relevant skills. The first edition held in May this year received overwhelming feedback, with participants gaining substantial knowledge and practical skills across multiple fabrication disciplines.

A total of 10 seats per batch are available for ‘MakerSprint’ workshop and admissions are on a first-come, first-served basis. The programme is open to students, innovators, professionals and general public.
