Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister visits Seafood Expo Bharat 2026 and lauds Seafood Olympiad winners for their innovation

Chennai, July 2: Minister for Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Shri A. Srinath today visited Seafood Expo Bharat 2026 and commended the winners of the second edition of National Skill Olympiad on Seafood Value Addition, saying their efforts stood out for innovation, expertise, and culinary skills in the marine sector.

The Olympiad was held on Wednesday as part of the July 1-3 Seafood Expo Bharat (SEB) 2026, organised by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA). 

The minister, who visited the National Skill Olympiad Pavilion, interacted with the Olympiad participants, and tasted the seafood value-added products prepared by them.

He was accompanied by Smt. Anu George, Secretary, Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu; Dr K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Director of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare; Shri P. Jawahar, Chairman, MPEDA, and Dr. T.R. Gibin Kumar, Secretary, MPEDA,

P Surya Bhaskar, who works with Devi Fisheries Ltd at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, was adjudged the winner of the second edition of National Skill Olympiad.  Muthu Kumaran, of Theva & Co, Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, grabbed the second spot while Ms Sagarika Sardar, who is associated with SS Seafoods Pvt Ltd, Kolkata, and Ms Barasarani Jena, Sabri Food Products Pvt Ltd, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, came third and fourth, respectively.
