Infopark Football Tournament: EY crowned men’s champions, TCS win women’s title

Kochi, May 25: EY emerged champions in the men’s category, while TCS clinched the women’s title at the third edition of the Infopark Football Tournament organised for IT employees from the Kochi, Thrissur and Cherthala campuses of Infopark.
In an exciting final, defending champions EY retained the men’s title by defeating Experion by two goals. In the women’s five-a-side football tournament, TCS secured the championship title with a victory over EY.
In the men’s losers’ final, TCS defeated Gadgeon, while in the women’s losers’ final, Wipro registered a win against IQVIA.
Prizes were distributed by Nihal Sudheesh, Kerala Blasters Football Club player, John Mathew (General Manager, Finance & Administration, Calpine), and Remil (General Manager, The Coral Reef Hotel, Kakkanad), among others.
An exhibition football match between Thrikkakara Municipal Corporation councillors and the Calpine Masters was held ahead of the quarterfinal and semifinal matches of the third season of the Infopark Football Tournament.
Thrikkakara Municipal Corporation emerged victorious in the contest, defeating the Calpine Masters by two goals to one. Thrikkakara councillor Shaji Vazhakkala was selected as the best player of the match.
The tournament was organised by Calpine Group in association with Infopark, which has been operating at Infopark for the past twenty years. The initiative is aimed at promoting fitness, teamwork and camaraderie among IT professionals amid demanding work schedules in the technology sector.
The chess tournament in March and the cricket tournament in previous years were organised by Calpine Group.
League matches of the football tournament were held from April 24 to May 9 at the BMC Sports Football Turf in Thrikkakara. The knockout matches took place at the United Sports Centre near the Infopark Four-lane Road. The tournament featured a total prize pool of nearly ₹3 lakh .IT employees and their family members attended the matches held daily from 6 pm to 10 pm.
