BRIC-RGCB hosts science outreach programme for school students

Director inaugurates four-day event on ‘Face to Face with Frontier Areas of Science & Technology’

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 29: Aiming to nurture scientific curiosity among students and inspire the next generation of innovators and researchers, a four-day science outreach programme for schoolchildren commenced at Biotechnology Research and Innovation Centre-Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (BRIC-RGCB) here.

The programme, which began on Tuesday, is being organized by BRIC-RGCB in association with Swadeshi Science Movement Kerala.

Dr Beena Pillai, Director, BRIC-RGCB, inaugurated the programme, titled ‘Face to Face with Frontier Areas of Science & Technology’ at the campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pillai highlighted the growing importance of interdisciplinary learning in modern education and encouraged students to actively consider science as a promising and impactful career pathway.

She also emphasized that the future of scientific innovation lies at the intersection of multiple disciplines, besides urging young minds to cultivate curiosity and collaborative thinking.

Shri Praveen Ramdas, Secretary, VIBHA, and Shri Abga R, South India Organizing Secretary of Vijnana Bharati, presided over the function. Shri Rajeev Nair, Secretary, Swadeshi Science Movement–Kerala, welcomed the gathering.

The sessions were handled by BRIC-RGCB scientists Dr Tessy Thomas Maliekal, Dr Parijat Senapati, and Dr Ananthalakshmy Sundararaman, along with Dr Biju Dharmapalan from Garden City University, Bengaluru. They offered the participants a deep insight into cutting-edge developments across diverse scientific domains.

The programme aims to provide students direct exposure to emerging and frontier areas of science and technology through expert interactions, lectures, and hands-on experiences.

Over the course of four days, sessions will be conducted across premier scientific institutions, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage with leading scientists and researchers.
