School of Storytelling announces India’s first AI Filmmaking Scholarship for female students

Kochi, Apr 30: In a significant move to bolster female representation in Malayalam cinema and provide mastery over modern technology, the School of Storytelling (SOS) has announced a landmark scholarship, "Her Lens: AI Filmmaking Scholarship for Women," which is specifically designed for female college students.
The project is rooted in the realization that Artificial Intelligence is not merely a technical tool but a vast new horizon for creative imagination. By integrating female perspectives in cinema with AI technology, "Her Lens" aims to create a new paradigm in the world of filmmaking.
This initiative is being implemented as part of WAVE 1.0, the AI filmmaking movement which was officially inaugurated by actor Kamal Haasan.
The scholarships are offered for the upcoming June batch of the School of Storytelling.
Selected candidates will receive following benefits:
Visionary Grant (3 Recipients): A 100% scholarship for India’s first comprehensive AI Filmmaking Programme (valued at Rs 1,25,000).
Pioneer Grant (3 Recipients): A 50% scholarship towards the programme fee.
As for selection criteria and eligibility, the programme is open to female college students with a passion for cinema, creative design, content creation, short filmmaking, writing, or technology.
Prior experience is not mandatory.
Applicants must not exceed 35 years of age.
Selection will be based on an evaluation of the candidate's creative portfolio, a written statement (minimum 300 words) on "Why I want to learn AI Filmmaking," and a subsequent online interview.
