Estonian delegation visits Technopark; aims to build tie-up

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr. 30: A high-profile business delegation from Estonia, led by Ms Marje Luup, Ambassador of Estonia to India, visited Technopark today, seeking possibilities of collaborations and investments in various domains, including e-governance, e-health, space, disaster management and emerging technologies.

Shri Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Department of Electronics & IT, Govt. of Kerala, held discussions with Ms Luup and representatives of various sectors from Estonia.

Noting that Kerala’s developed service sector is a model for the country, Shri Sambasiva said the state is focusing on promoting investment, especially from private sector in technology by leveraging the robust ecosystem it offers.  

“The Industrial Policy of the government has identified 22 priority sectors, which are environment-friendly. Startups and universities in Estonia have good opportunities in Kerala to establish tie-ups with their counterparts in the state and share ideas,” he noted.

Delineating the e-governance and technology initiatives of Estonia, Ms Luup said she is highly impressed by the initiatives like e-governance implemented in Kerala.

“Estonia is keen to build collaborations with startups and companies in the state since we have success stories in cybersecurity and AI. We have been bringing startups to India for quite some time for exposure. Kerala’s vibrant ecosystem and progressive technology domains, including space sector, are very impressive,” she noted.

The members of the delegation were Mr Vinod Basliyal, FDI & Export Head, Estonia Business and Innovation Agency; Mr Sven Parkel, Representative of Energy Cluster, Estonia; Mr Jaak Viilipus (Maritime Cluster); Ms Maarit Jalakas (Health-tech Cluster); Mr Marko Valler (Woodhouse/Prefabricated Cluster); and Mr Anton Iljin (Travel/Film Industry). 

Dr. Saji Gopinath, Vice Chancellor, Digital University Kerala (DUK); Ashok Kurian Panjikaran, Senior Manager, KSUM; Sabareesh, Head – eGovernance, KSITM; Subil V S, Head – Technology, KSITM; Dr Alex James – Professor, DUK; Dr Sunil TT, Director, CDIT; Vasanth Varada, Deputy Vice President (Marketing & Customer Relationship), Technopark; and Lead IT Strategists Dr. Anoopa Narayanan, Sreenath Njaneshwar, Akshay Kannan, and Prakash Matthew were also present.
