Kochi, March 28: Senior management representatives of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Principal Sponsor of the 6th edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB), visited the Biennale venues in Kochi as part of an official engagement with the international art exhibition.

The delegation included Mr. George Thomas, Chief General Manager (HR), BPCL, and Ms. Kavitha Mathew, Manager (Brand), Kochi Refinery, BPCL. The team was received by Mr. Thomas Varghese, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kochi Biennale Foundation.

Thomas Varghese said: “BPCL’s association with the 6th edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale as the Principal Sponsor gives a strong impetus to transforming Kochi into a vibrant hub of artistic experimentation. It also reflects our continued role in shaping the region’s cultural landscape through the Biennale.”

He added that the BPCL's financial support ensures that the Biennale remains a vibrant and accessible platform for creative expression.

Mr. George Thomas, Chief General Manager (HR), BPCL, said, “This is my first visit to the Biennale. I had attended the first edition earlier, but today’s detailed briefing offered deeper insights into the exhibition, and it appears truly impressive. I extend my congratulations to the organisers for doing such a wonderful job.”

He added, “Kochi is now widely recognised as the Biennale City of India, and this remains the only place in the country where such an event is hosted. It is important that the Biennale continues, and in the coming years as well, we should ensure our continued support. The Biennale stands as an icon of Kerala, and indeed, it can be regarded as an icon of India.”

The visit underscored BPCL’s continued commitment to supporting cultural initiatives in the region, while also providing the delegation with an opportunity to engage closely with one of South Asia’s most prominent contemporary art platforms.
