Kochi / March 10, 2026
Kochi, Mar 10: Students and teachers from Government UP School, Vypin visited the Kochi- Muziris Biennale as part of the ABC Art Room project, an initiative of the Biennale implemented in their school during the current academic year.
Headmistress Smitha KG said, “The ABC Art Room project introduced in our school this year has completely changed our perspective on art. When we arrived, I initially thought that only those with deep knowledge of art would be able to understand the works. But today I saw every one of our young children enjoying themselves at each venue.”
She noted that the visit helped students experience the natural essence of art beyond the boundaries of language and country. “We feel a sense of loss for not having visited earlier, and we hope to participate in every upcoming Biennale from now on,” she added.
Sneha, a seventh-grade student of the school, said the visit was a memorable experience as it allowed her to see many new forms of art and cultural expressions
“I have never seen anything like this before. I was able to explore many things here, including the customs, traditions, songs and languages of people. I also saw imaginative floral displays and paintings that seemed almost alive,” she said.
Sneha noted that she particularly enjoyed seeing the musical instruments displayed in Omens Drawn by Lightning (2025) by Zarina Muhammad at the Coir Godown of Aspinwall House.
“There were also many interesting things made out of clay. Even though I may not have understood everything, I was able to learn and understand quite a lot,” she added.
