Kerala Tourism’s photo expo ‘Lenscape Kerala’ opens at Telangana State Gallery of Art

Hyderabad, March 12: Kerala Tourism’s all-India photo exhibition ‘Lenscape Kerala’ opened at Telangana State Gallery of Art here today, showcasing the God’s own Country’s natural splendours, eclectic culture and immersive experiences as an all-season destination in 100 curated frames.
Mr Rahul Raj P.S, IAS, Special Commissioner and Registrar, Department of Cooperation, Government of Telangana, inaugurated the exhibition, which reached the city after enthralling viewers in metros across the country, staring from New Delhi.
Actor-Photographer Mr Vishwender Reddy and Artistic Director of India Photography Festival Mr Aquin Mathews were present as Chief Guests on the occasion.
In his message to mark the opening of the Hyderabad-leg of the exhibition, Kerala Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas said “We are extremely delighted to bring this show to this vibrant city, whose defining feature is its eclectic culture and social harmony, just like Kerala.”
Conceived as a creative outreach to showcase the lived experiences of Kerala, the exhibition has received heartening response from the cities it has travelled so far,” Shri Riyas said.
“Apart from depicting panoramic beauty of the land interspersed by rivers, backwaters and hills, the exhibition serves as a visual guide to Kerala’s architectural marvels, cultural expressions and harmony and togetherness of people that scripted the true Kerala story,” the Minister added.
The show will run till March 14 and is open to public from 11.00 AM to 7.00 PM.
The exhibition features a unique collection of photographs shot in various places of Kerala by travel and media photographers from different parts of India, capturing a range of themes such as heritage and architecture, backwaters, wildlife, festivals and spirituality and life of farming and coastal communities.
A country-first initiative, Lenscape Kerala exhibition is curated by eminent art curator and critic Uma Nair. Renowned wildlife and conservation photographer Balan Madhavan is the Director of Photography of the project.
The photographers who participated in the project are: H Satish, Kounteya Sinha, Shivang Mehta, Saibal Das, Umesh Gogna, Saurabh Chatterjee, Natasha Kartar Hemrajani, Aishwarya Sridhar, Amit Pasricha, Manoj Arora. They had travelled different places of the state, focusing on diverse themes, dear to each one of them.
According to Uma Nair, Lenscape Kerala presents the many dimensions of Kerala in a manner that stimulates curiosity, deepens appreciation, and fosters an enduring sense of admiration.
The response to the show had been spontaneous and overwhelming wherever it toured so far, said Balan Madhavan. The inauguration was followed by a walkthrough of the exhibition by Uma Nair.
Starting from New Delhi, the show had toured Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru and Chennai, before reaching Hyderabad After enthralling viewers in the city, the exhibition will move on to Surat (March 19-21) before it closes in Kolkata (March 27-29).
