From Belgium to Kerala: Princess Finds Healing in Ayurveda with Help from KSUM Startup
Kochi / March 13, 2026
Kochi, Mar 13: Highlighting the growing role of startups in connecting global wellness travellers with Kerala’s Ayurveda ecosystem, a wellness travel startup incubated at Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) recently facilitated an Ayurveda retreat in the state for Princess Françoise of Chimay, Belgium, wife of Prince Philippe de Caraman-Chimay.
The Princess had been in Kerala recently for a two-week Ayurveda wellness programme, seeking an authentic, doctor-led treatment experience rooted in the state’s traditional healing practices.
WellnessLoka, a KSUM Unique ID startup and wellness travel platform with a network of more than 200 Ayurveda resorts and hospitals, helped identify and facilitate the right Ayurveda retreat for the Princess and her friend based on their preferences and wellness requirements.
The platform enables travellers to discover suitable Ayurveda centres based on treatment goals, budget, location preferences, and medical specialisations, while also helping coordinate consultations with experienced Ayurveda doctors and practitioners.
WellnessLoka also supports guests throughout their wellness journey, assisting with coordination and ensuring a smooth experience between travellers and Ayurveda institutions.
According to KSUM officials, the visit reflects the growing global trust in Kerala’s time-tested Ayurveda tradition and highlights the role of the state’s vibrant startup ecosystem in connecting international wellness seekers with authentic treatment experiences.
Founded in Kerala, WellnessLoka has helped wellness travellers from around 28 countries, along with guests from across India, discover and book suitable Ayurveda retreats in the state, making traditional healing experiences more accessible to a global audience.
The initiative demonstrates how startups emerging from Kerala’s innovation ecosystem are contributing to Kerala’s reputation as a leading global destination for Ayurveda and wellness tourism.
