Milma’s TRCMPU to give out Rs. 5 cr as additional summer incentive to farmers, societies

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar. 14: In good news for dairy farmers and milk cooperative societies in four southern districts, Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) has decided to provide Rs. 5 crore as summer incentive for farmers and milk cooperative societies.
Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Smt J Chinchurani announced the summer incentive scheme during the launch of TRCMPU’s new farmer welfare project ‘Sahayahastham’ for dairy farmers at a function at Chadayamangalam Block Panchayat Hall on Saturday.
The farmers affiliated to milk societies under TRCMPU in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts will benefit from the scheme.
TRCMPU Chairperson Smt Mani Viswanath presided over the function while Director Board Member Shri Vasudevan Unni delivered the welcome address.
Selected members of the Anand Model societies under TRCMPU will be given Rs 1000 per month under this new project. A total of 4000 farmers selected based on merit criteria will benefit from this project.
An amount of 2.4 crore has been earmarked for the new project, said Smt Chinchurani.
The scheme will ensure fixed income for active members of milk societies, while encouraging all farmers and people who are interested in dairy farming, said the minister.
In the current financial year, an amount of Rs 20 crore has been distributed among farmers and societies as additional incentives while another Rs 15 crore has been given out as cattle feed subsidy and other welfare schemes till date, said Smt Mani Viswanath.
Milk societies under TRCMPU will be given an additional sum of Rs. 6 on each litre of milk procured in February 2026. Of this, Rs. Four will go to the farmers, Rs. one for the milk societies and Rs. one will be deposited as additional share of the societies, Smt Mani Viswanath added.
Kollam District Panchayat President Mrs. R. Lathadevi delivered the keynote address. Chadayamangalam Block Panchayat President Mr. M. Nazir, Chadayamangalam Grama Panchayat President Mr. K. Sudevan, Chadayamangalam Block Panchayat - Vice President Mrs. Mini Sunil, Chadayamangalam Grama Panchayat Vice President Smt. S. Geethakumari, Thiruvananthapuram Regional Union Managing Director Mr. Rararaj R. K.A.S., Chadayamangalam Grama Panchayat Development Standing Committee Chairman Mr. D. Ranjith, Chadayamangalam Dairy Development Officer Mr. Biju S., and Union Director Board Members attended the event. Director Board Member Mr. K. R. Mohanan Pillai delivered the vote of thanks.
