Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena visits Kochi Muziris Biennale

Kochi, Feb 25: Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, visited the Kochi-Muziris Biennale at the Aspinwall House.

Describing the visit as “fantastic and thoughtfully curated,” the Vice Admiral expressed deep appreciation for the experience. He noted that the Biennale offered profound insights into the oceans and their historic role in connecting civilizations, facilitating the movement of cultures, faiths, religions and trade across centuries.

He also highlighted the strong resonance between the artworks and naval themes, particularly those addressing the growing threats to oceans from pollution and global warming.

Vice Admiral Saxena said the Southern Naval Command, the Navy’s training command, looks forward to encouraging more young officers to visit the Biennale. Emphasising the importance of engaging with art, he remarked that whether fully understood or not, art remains an enriching and enlightening experience.

He conveyed gratitude to the curators and participating artists for their inspiring work.
