Students from GUPS Chirakkakam visit Kochi-Muziris Biennale Venues
Kochi / February 25, 2026
Kochi, Feb 25: As part of its outreach commitment to government schools, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale Foundation facilitated a guided visit for 102 students and teachers from GUPS Chirakkakam, Varappuzha, to various Biennale venues on Monday.
The group, comprising students from Classes IV to VII, was taken around by trained Art Mediators, who introduced them to the artworks and concepts on display across locations. The educational tour aimed at familiarising young learners with contemporary art practices and encouraging creative engagement.
According to Headmistress Laji Varkey, the students visited a total of six venues as part of the programme. The tour began at the Mattancherry venue and covered key spaces including Edam, the Students’ Biennale venues, and other exhibition spaces.
After completing the venue visits, the students had lunch at Bastion Bungalow and later gathered at the Pavilion for an animation film screening.
Thomas Varghese, CEO, Kochi Biennale Foundation, and Nikhil Chopra, curator of the sixth edition of the Biannale, spoke to the students, sharing insights about his artistic practice and encouraging them to explore their creativity.
The initiative reflects the Foundation’s continued efforts to make contemporary art accessible to young students from government schools and to nurture early engagement with cultural spaces.
