Kochi / February 26, 2026
Kochi, Feb 26: The Kochi-Muziris Biennale has announced a public talk titled 'Restituting Fragments of Evidence' by award-winning filmmaker and visual artist Jihan El Tahri on 27 February at 5 PM.
The talk will be held at the Pavilion, Bastion Bungalow, Fort Kochi.
In this session, part of the Vivan Sundaram memorial lecture series, El Tahri will explore the politics, preservation, and restitution of archival images. Her presentation will examine how historical records are shaped, preserved, and interpreted, while challenging the colonial frameworks that continue to influence contemporary understandings of the past.
Known for her work engaging with history, memory, and political narratives, El Tahri brings a critical lens to the role of archives in shaping collective consciousness.
The event is open to the public.
