KBF to stage Bye Bye Bypass this evening; tickets available from 3 pm
Kochi / February 5, 2026
Kochi, Feb 5: The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) is all set to stage Bye Bye Bypass, a Malayalam play directed by Roshan Mathew, in Pavilion, Bastion Bungalow, Fort Kochi, from 7 pm on February 6. Tickets will be available from 3 pm, priced at Rs 400. Seats are limited.
Scripted by Francis Thomas, Shruti Ramachandran and Roshan Mathew, the cast includes Darshana Rajendran, Aswathi Manoharan, Sanjay Menon, Syamaprakash MS, Nilja K Baby, Vaisakh Sankar, Rajesh Madhavan, Salmanul Faris, Devaki Bhaagi, Jithin Puthenchery and Leona Lishoy.
The play revolves around a family house and its surrounding land. A proposed government bypass project that threatens the homestead and its memories unleashes a generational drama. It involves elders, surveyors, local authorities and children moving through family history and their losses as the land becomes contested. The play unfolds through the adventure of four children —Nandu, Innachi, Thumbi and Kunjeli —as they navigate imaginative play, familial bonds and various disputes over property rights and inheritance, mixing legal battles, tension and local folklore that entwines the living with ancestral spirits. Humour, conflict and nostalgia come to the fore as cricket matches, bedtime missions and love letters connect family members, their local heritage, and the looming disruption from the bypass.
