Kannur, Feb 23: Ramping up the beach-side tourism experience of the Malabar region, Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the premium drive-in destination property of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) at Muzhappilangad in Kannur district on February 25 at 3.30 pm.

Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas will preside over the inauguration of the high-end property, named Malabar Courtyard.

A stunningly scenic coastal stretch located between Thalassery and Kannur, Muzhappilangad is Asia’s longest drive-in beach, which has marked north Malabar firmly on the global tourism map.

The property, spread around a 6.5- acre site within the Muzhappilangad- Dharamadam beach tourism circuit, boasts of world class facilities, including a vast swimming pool at its centre.

The resort is developed at a cost of Rs. 51.86 crore, funded by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).

The resort has eight cottages in four blocks, eight suite rooms in two blocks and 40 rooms. It also has two types of rooms of 285 sq ft each called Aqua Grove and Aqua Vista, spacious 548 sq ft suite rooms with living space, a conference hall with seating capacity for 100 persons and a plush and digitally-connected Board Room for holding business and official meetings.

“Malabar Courtyard is designed as a premium destination property to meet the demands of fast-growing tourism in north Kerala, including big-ticket events,” Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas said.

Its panoramic setting and close air, rail and road connectivity make this sprawling resort an ideal destination for MICE tourism, including corporate board meetings and major conferences, he said.

At the same time, it will also serve as an attractive site for local holidayers and family gatherings, besides boosting the local economy, the Minister noted.

With its vast swimming pool and the landscaping that merges well into the overall design, Malabar Courtyard promises an altogether different experience for foreign and domestic tourists, said KTDC Managing Director Smt Sikha Surendran.

It also features an indoor recreation area and a well-equipped health club.

Malabar Courtyard’s ambience and vibe marks it especially pleasant for destination weddings, honeymoon retreats and family get-togethers.

The foundation-stone for the property was laid by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on October 30, 2021. It has been completed within the time-frame set, meeting all the architectural and aesthetic features in its design plans to the last detail.
