Biennale film festival to be held in Kannur on Thursday and Friday

Kannur, Feb 17: A two-day film festival titled “Art, Time, Revolt – Lifelines of Cinema,” an outreach programme of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, will be held on February 19 and 20 at the V.K. Krishnamenon Memorial Government Women’s College. The festival is being organised as part of the college’s Golden Jubilee celebrations and is curated by Keli Ramachandran.

Padma Shri awardee Sadanam Balakrishnan will inaugurate the event at 1.30 pm on February 19. The function will be presided over by College Principal Dr. Chandramohan K.T., and Programme Convener Balakrishnan Koyyal will deliver the welcome address. Following the inauguration, there will be a lecture on Koodiyattam by Indu G. and team, followed by the screening of five films.

On the second day, there will be a discussion on cinema featuring Dr. C.S. Venkiteswaran and Sruthil Mathew, followed by the screening of six films. A total of 11 films focusing on various transformations of human life will be showcased at the festival.

The organisers have invited everyone to attend the cultural event being conducted with the support of the Malayalam Department and the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (Kannur Regional Centre).
