Milma announces Rs 200 subsidy on cattle feed from Feb 1 to March 31
Total subsidy goes up to Rs 300 per bag, input cost to come down
Trivandrum / February 2, 2026
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 2: Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), known by brand Milma, has announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per bag of Milma Gomathi Gold cattle feed from February 1 to March 31.
The decision was taken by KCMMF governing body with the aim of offsetting the increase in production cost borne by dairy farmers.
With the cattle feed subsidy given by Milma federation being increased from Rs 100 to Rs 200, farmers will be entitled to a total benefit of Rs 300 since Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram and Malabar Regional Unions have already been giving subsidy at the rate of Rs 100.
With the increase in subsidy, farmers will now get the cattle feed at rate which is Rs 120 less than the price fixed in 2019.
Similarly, silage and maize fodder are also being provided to the farmers at a rate which is Rs 2 less than the average price fixed in 2019.
The increase in subsidy is expected to be a major relief to dairy farmers who are struggling with the increase in production cost. Milma is committed to improving the productivity and procurement of milk by supporting dairy farmers.
With an aim of reducing the production cost entailed by farmers, Milma has been providing cattle feed subsidy and additional incentive on milk price since 2024. These measures have resulted in a 13 per cent increase in procurement of milk by its regional unions.
