Kochi, Feb 01: Suman Billa, IAS, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, visited the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, touring the exhibition at its main venue, Aspinwall House, and later visiting another key Biennale venue, Pepper House.
During the visit, Suman Billa went through the artworks on display and interacted with the Biennale organisers, gaining an understanding of the curatorial framework and the artistic narratives presented at the ongoing Biennale.
It is always a wonderful and enchanting experience to come to the Kochi-Muziris Biennale,” said Suman Billa. He expressed happiness at the increase in the number of venues and the vibrant level of participation this time. “It is truly encouraging to see the Biennale going from strength to strength, and I am sure that this sixth Biennale will firmly place Kerala as the art capital of India,” he added. Following his tour, he enquired about the post-Biennale future of the installations, asking whether the works would be exhibited elsewhere.
Suman Billa, a Kerala cadre IAS officer, has served as the Kerala Tourism Secretary and Director. He has played a significant role in putting Kerala Tourism on the global map and is a key contributor to the advancement of the state’s cultural and tourism initiatives.”
