“We Are In A Soup”: A participatory practice facilitated by Avnit Singh

Kochi, Jan 26:  In a world moving at relentless speed, "We Are in a Soup" offers a gentle pause, inviting strangers to gather around food, making, and shared care as a way of being together.

The workshop “We Are in a Soup”, facilitated by artist Avnit Singh, will take place on January 27 and 28, 2026, at ABC Art Room, Bastion Bungalow, Fort Kochi, as part of the Art By Children programme of the Kochi Biennale Foundation.

Free and open to all, the participatory practice invites people to slow down, gather, and care through the shared acts of making, cooking, serving, and eating.

Participants will hand-build a simple clay bowl and bring one vegetable to contribute to a collective pot of soup. Blending food, memory, labour, and togetherness, the project transforms soup-making into a social portrait shaped by each individual’s presence.

No prior experience is required, but active participation is essential. The initiative creates a temporary common space rooted in attention, patience, and shared responsibility.
