Kochi Biennale Foundation to offer free entry on first and third Mondays from February

Kochi / January 28, 2026

Kochi, Jan 28: The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) has announced that entry to the ongoing edition of the Biennale will be free on the first and third Mondays of every month from February onwards.

As part of its deeper engagement with the public, the decision is expected to benefit students, local residents, and first-time casual visitors who may otherwise find ticket prices a barrier to participation in India’s largest contemporary art exhibition.

According to the organisers, the free-entry initiative is part of the Biennale’s long-stated commitment to inclusivity and public outreach. Since its inception, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale has positioned itself as a civic cultural festival embedded within the social and historical fabric of Kochi, and the decision is in line with this ethos.

What happens to tickets already purchased?

Addressing concerns from visitors who had already purchased tickets for dates that now fall under the newly announced free-entry Mondays, the KBF authorities clarified that no one stands to lose the value of their ticket.

Importantly, Biennale tickets do not carry a printed date. As such:

* Visitors who have purchased tickets for first or third Mondays from February onwards can still use their tickets without any issue.

* Once scanned at entry, the ticket remains valid for one full day from the time of first entry.

* Alternatively, those tickets may be used on any other day of the Biennale, without restriction.

This clarification is aimed at reassuring visitors.
