Trivandrum / January 9, 2026
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 09: With a legacy of over 35 years as a technology ecosystem enabler, Technopark has played a significant role in Kerala’s IT journey. Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd) is set to step down as Chief Executive Officer on 9 January 2026, concluding a three-year tenure focused on consolidation, expansion, and institutional preparedness. At the close of this phase, Technopark stands structurally strengthened and strategically positioned for its next phase of growth.
Technopark has recorded steady growth across key indicators. The ecosystem expanded to 500 companies, supporting 80,000 professionals, while software exports increased to ₹14,575 crore, reflecting continued confidence from both new and existing firms. Financial stability and prudent governance were reaffirmed through the retention of the CRISIL A+ (Stable) rating for the fourth consecutive year.
A key focus area was long-term capacity creation and development readiness. Following the successful completion of Phases I, II, and III, Technocity Phase IV, a 390-acre masterplan, was finalised to serve as the next major IT destination in the region. The plan envisions a fully integrated ecosystem encompassing IT, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), R&D, and social infrastructure, designed to accommodate emerging technologies and specialized sectors. Strategic land allocation and zoning within Technocity have been finalised to support a diverse range of sectors, including the MSME Technology Centre, Digital Science Park, Emerging Tech Hub (KSUM), Kerala Space Park, Central Forensic Science Laboratory, GCC/IT Cluster, niche technology sectors such as AI, advanced computing, semiconductors, cybersecurity, and space & defence technologies, as well as the Unity Mall. This framework ensures a balanced, integrated, and future-ready development plan for the campus.
Infrastructure development progressed across phases. Construction of the Chaliyar GCC Anchor Hub, a 50,000 sq. ft. plug-and-play facility is progressing, alongside the completion of the Kallayi IT Building in Phase I. Strategic partnerships were strengthened through MoUs with Brigade Group for the World Trade Centre and Caspian Techparks in Phase I. Development at Embassy Taurus – Downtown Trivandrum in Phase III is moving towards its next phase following the commissioning of the Niagara building. In Technocity, the TCS IT/ITeS Campus continued to progress, with the first 5 lakh sq. ft. building scheduled for completion in January 2026. Construction of the first QUAD building is set to commence soon, with work orders issued and project management arrangements finalised, while construction of the Unity Mall is also underway.
Technopark witnessed sustained market momentum, with several global firms commencing operations or expanding their presence, including Accenture, HCL, Arch Capital Group, Equifax, Visteon, Nissan Digital, Allianz, Zafin, Carestack, Guidehouse, Armada, NeST Digital, and Experion Technologies. Co-developer interest remained strong, with Letters of Intent exchanged with Al Marzooqi, HiLITE Group, and Gritstone Technologies, and managed office space proposals received from iSprout.
On the governance and policy front, enabling reforms were advanced. The FAR/FSI for IT parks was enhanced from 4 to 7 supporting higher investment and densification. Strategic initiatives such as the Kerala Defence Innovation Zone (K-DIZ), launched in coordination with KSUM, and a comprehensive GCC feasibility study by ANSR further strengthened Technopark’s positioning in emerging and strategic technology domains. A city profiling exercise by Colliers reinforced Thiruvananthapuram’s readiness as a global GCC destination.
Sustainability and liveability remained integral to development planning, with smart initiatives implemented across energy efficiency, water management, solar power, EV charging, and community engagement. Coordination of metro rail alignment across Technopark Phases I, II, and III, along with proposals for Technocity connectivity in the next phase of metro expansion, reflected an integrated approach to urban and infrastructure planning. Beyond Thiruvananthapuram, the proposed Technopark Lakefront IT City at Kundara, Kollam, envisaged as a PPP-led development, signals the next phase of expansion planned for Technopark Kollam.
With strong institutional foundations, expanding capacity, and a clear strategic direction, Technopark is well positioned for its next phase of growth. As technology landscapes evolve and global opportunities expand, the ecosystem is equipped to scale responsibly, deepen innovation, and strengthen its role as a globally relevant technology destination.
