The workshop is open to practicing artists in performance and visual arts, as well as students interested in performance art, selected from applications.
Marina Abramović is a pioneering performance and conceptual artist, known for her durational works that test the endurance of body and mind, redefining notions of presence and identity. She is a participating artist at the upcoming KMB 2025.
The Abramović Method, which is facilitated by American Billy Zhao who is curator at Marina Abramović Institute in New York, offers an opportunity to be “fully present, quiet and aware in a world filled with constant distraction and makes it hard to connect with ourselves and with others”.
The workshop introduces participants to a series of guided, durational exercises designed to enhance focus, stamina, concentration and presence. The participants will remain silent and refrain from using watches, phones and other electronic devices at the workshop. Each exercise will be explained at the moment of its execution, encouraging participants to engage directly and intuitively with the process.
Zhao is a writer, researcher and performance curator based in New York.
