National Milk Day: Milma invites visitors to TVM dairy on Nov 24, 25

Trivandrum / November 17, 2025

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 17: Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) has made arrangements for the public to visit the Thiruvananthapuram Dairy at Ambalathara on November 24 and 25, as part of the National Milk Day celebrations.

The visitors to the dairy, from 10 am to 5 pm, will be able to see how the plant processes milk and makes other dairy products.

The country celebrates November 26 as the National Milk Day, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the late Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s White Revolution.

The visit to the dairy will give a good idea of the functioning of the plant including various processes that precede the delivery of milk in sachet to millions of homes. Visitors will have the opportunity to know how milk is collected from various milk producers’ cooperative units, pasteurised and sterilized at the dairy and how the consumable milk is filled in packets and distributed into the retail outlets using advanced technology and machinery.

The visitors will also be taken through the manufacturing process of Milma products including ghee, ice cream, butter, paneer and butter milk. They can also buy Milma products at discount rates on these days.

As part of National Milk Day celebrations, a quiz competition will be held for high school and higher secondary students on November 21 and a painting competition on November 22. The competitions will be held at Milma Dairy at Ambalathara from 9.30 am. Every school in the district can send one team for the competitions.

Those who are interested can register through the email ID: milmatd.quiz@gmail.com before November 20. For more details, contact: 0471 2382192.
