Kozhikode, Nov 8 : The Tourism Department has granted administrative approval of Rs 75 lakh for the "Destination Challenge" project in the Chathamangalam Grama Panchayat.
This initiative, implemented by the Tourism Department, aims to expand tourism development by ensuring the participation of local self-governing bodies.
The project focuses on the area called Koolimad, where the Cherupuzha and Iruvazhinjhi rivers converge in Chaliyar, which is being developed as a tourism centre.
Tourism and Public Works Minister PA Mohamed Riyas stated that, in line with the government's vision to develop at least one tourism destination in every local self-government body in the state, various projects are currently being implemented across the state.
The minister also highlighted that the primary focus is on developing two tourist centres near the Koolimad and Chettikkadavu bridges.
These parks will feature seating areas, a gallery, an open stage for events, a children's play area, an open gym, a viewpoint, toilet facilities, and electrification.
