Amboori Kumbichal Bridge to get a facelift to serve leisure seekers

Trivandrum / November 8, 2025

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 08: The state tourism department has earmarked Rs 99,98,276 for transforming the Amboori Kumbichal Kadavu Bridge into a visually captivating landmark.

The project has been crafted through a collaborative effort between the Public Works and Tourism departments, in alignment with the state's design policy.

The overarching objective is to breathe new life into neglected spaces beneath bridges across the state, transforming them into vibrant public spaces that invite community engagement and enjoyment.

Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Limited has been designated as the lead agency overseeing this initiative, while the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) is responsible for operational supervision and maintenance.

Tourism and Public Works Minister PA Mohamed Riyas said the array of such projects being rolled out across the state exemplifies a creative approach to enhancing public spaces.

The ongoing beautification efforts in popular underbridge spots such as Feroke and Kollam have already garnered enthusiastic public support.

“Through these efforts, the state aims to enrich the visitor experience and foster a sense of community pride in its natural and cultural surroundings,” Shri Riyas said.

“We are committed to ensuring that the Tourism Department prioritises and financially supports diverse initiatives, extending its reach to both rural and urban settings.”
