Tourism Dept sanctions Rs. 7 crores for Koottampara Ecotourism project

Malappuram, November 8: In a big boost to ecotourism in Kerala, the state government has sanctioned Rs. 7 crores for development of the Thiruvali Naduvathu Koottampara Ecotourism Project in Wandoor Assembly constituency in the district.
This was one of the projects proposed at the Nava Kerala Sadas.
Implementation of this project will take ecotourism in Kerala to new heights, besides bringing substantial benefits to local economy, Tourism and Public Works Minister, Shri PA Mohamed Riyas said.
Malappuram district has many micro and unexplored destinations of much tourism potential which have remained untapped for long. Completion of this project will bring much visibility to Koottampara and its surroundings to visibility, attracting tourists, especially the nature and adventure inclined travellers, Shri Riyas added.
The works to be taken up as part of the project include site development and landscaping, setting up a facilitation centre, construction of toilet blocks, food court, security cabin, geodesic tents, a zip line and a children’s park.
