IM Vijayan to play at Technopark on Nov 14

Exhibition match on sidelines of Raviz Prathidhwani Sevens Football tourney

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 11: Indian football superstar and former captain IM Vijayan will lead his team against Prathidhwani All Stars in an exhibition match to be held at Technopark here on November 14.

The match is part of the ‘Raviz Prathidhwani Sevens-Season 8,’ the largest football tournament in the state's IT sector, organised by Prathidhwani, the welfare and recreation forum for IT employees at Technopark. The tourney is organized in collaboration with Yoode Promotions and Raviz Hotels, to be held on Technopark Ground at 4 pm.

 ‘Raviz Prathidhwani Sevens-Season 8’ is a football tournament in sevens format.

More than 2,500 IT employees and 101 teams from over 90 companies are participating in the tourney, comprising 164 matches. The semi-finals of the tournament will be held on November 18, followed by the final on November 19. 

The winning team in the final will get Rs 25,000 cash prize, an ever-rolling trophy and one-day accommodation at Raviz Ashtamudi Resort, Kollam. Besides, Raviz Hotels and Yoode Promotions will sponsor other prizes to the winners. There will be special prizes for the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and the highest goal scorer of the tournament.  

In every match, Yoode and Sanchi Bags will give away the ‘Player of the Match’ trophy. The organisers have also created an opportunity for spectators to win prizes.

The fifth season of the 5s (five-a-side) football tournament for women will also be held as part of the events. Around 14 teams with 250-plus players from 14 companies are taking part in it.

Infosys has won the tournament five times, while UST Global trounced Infosys twice to lift the trophy.
