Tourism department to set up Aquatic Training Centre in Memunda

Kozhikode, Nov 06: The Department of Tourism has granted administrative sanction for the establishment of an Aquatic Training Centre at Memunda Higher Secondary School in Kozhikode district.
With a total financial allocation of Rs. 99,50,000, the facility is set to enhance the school’s infrastructure and provide valuable resources to the local community.
The proposed development works will involve upgrading the existing pond and its surrounding amenities to create a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal.
This transformation is designed not only to improve the infrastructure but also to enhance the school's overall environment, making it a more inviting space for students and visitors alike.
Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas said the training centre is envisioned as a multifaceted facility that uniquely integrates elements of sports, education, and nature.
By offering a range of aquatic sports and educational programs, the centre aims to inspire personal development and promote healthy lifestyles among its users.
“Guided by principles of sustainability, exclusivity, and innovation, the centre's design and operations will incorporate eco-friendly practices and cutting-edge facilities,” he said.
“This commitment to sustainability will ensure the centre demonstrates how educational institutions can contribute positively to the environment,” the Minister added.
The project is expected to be completed within 12 months, subject to all relevant codal formalities. The timeline will facilitate the swift realisation of the facility, promising significant educational and community benefits.
