Sanction of Rs. 29.5 lakh for Feasibility Report on Moolamattom-Nadukani Pavilion Cable Car Project

Idukki / November 1, 2025

Idukki, Nov 1: As part of increasing Idukki’s potential as a travel destination, the Department of Tourism has accorded administrative sanction for conducting a Feasibility Study on the cable car project from Moolamattam to Nadukani Pavilion in the hill-district.

The move comes after the government allocated Rs. 3, crore for the project in the 2025-26 budget.

Tourism and Public Works Minister Shri P.A. Mohamed Riyas said the government is envisioning a cable car project as capable of providing some of the most beautiful panoramic views in the country. “This will open up aerial view possibilities of tourist attractions far and near, including the Nadukani Pass, Ilaveezhapoonchira, Vagamon and the Arabian Sea,” he added.

The feasibility study report and recommendations for the project are to be prepared jointly by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society and the Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation.
