KSUM-mentored ShopDoc signs global partnership with Mastercard

Kochi, Oct 16: In a deal that will accelerate Kerala’s wellness tourism, pioneering healthcare technology and services firm ShopDoc has teamed up with Mastercard to accelerate digitization for the globalmedical tourism ecosystem.

By leveraging Mastercard’s payment expertise, ShopDoc, which is mentored by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), aims to provide its customers across the medical tourism, health, and wellness sectors with safe, secure and seamless payments, transforming how patients plan, pay and experience cross-border healthcare through a unified platform.

This new global medical tourism and premium wellness ecosystem, being built by ShopDoc at a cost of 50 million US dollars, is projected to generate transaction volumes exceeding $1 billion over the next seven years across the medical, health and wellness, travel, hospitality, and tourism sectors inbound to India.

The 2018-founded ShopDoc, which previously expanded to Dubai through the KSUM GITEX Expand North Star delegation, is looking forward to sharing updates on its integrated product suite, top officials said. This will improves its serving patients, hospitals, clinics and wellness centers across the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe, besides India.

KSUM CEO Anoop Ambika said the development adds to the Startup Mission’s efforts to embolden incubating companies to make strides towards global presence.

ShopDoc CEO Shihab Makaniyil revealed that the company was building a digital-first ecosystem that enables patients from around the world to access affordable, high-quality care through trusted providers, supported by secure and smart financial tools. “Our collaboration with Mastercard is a significant step towards that vision and democratising access to world-class healthcare services,” he noted about ShopDoc, which function from KSUM’s Technology Innovation Zone at Kalamassery, north of the city.

Mastercard Executive Vice President (Commercial Verticals) Scott Abrahams said embedding digital payment solutions into the platforms customers and businesses use every day removes fragmentation, unlocks access and accelerates the delivery of services, connecting people and systems with speed, scale and simplicity. “This is why we are collaborating with an ecosystem of partners to accelerate payment digitization and transform experience for the cross-border healthcare ecosystem.”
