Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 29: Cellupro Green Pvt Ltd, a women-led startup supported under Kerala Startup Mission’s (KSUM) WE Start Pre-Incubation Programme, produces sustainable cellulose pulp that can serve as the base material for cosmetics, paper products and research applications.

The company produces high-quality cellulose pulp from agro-waste such as rice straw, sugarcane bagasse, jackfruit peel, and pineapple straw which could be used for making creams, lotions, face masks, sunscreens, paper, tissues, eco-friendly packaging, sanitary napkins and for developing bio-composites.

Dr. Reshmy’s husband Shri Padmakumar, is the cofounder of CelluPro Green, and has been involved in the venture since the beginning stages. Smt Maya Rajesh is also one the founders of CelluPro Green.

“The encouragement and insightful guidance received from KSUM’s incubation programme was the stepping stone for materialising this project,” said Dr.  Rajasekharan, who is also an Associate Professor at Providence College of Engineering, Chengannur.

The R&D-driven product is 100 per cent vegan and herbal, with a patent in progress, and is aligned with multiple UN SDG goals.
