CM to inaugurate Kerala-EU Blue Economy Conclave on Friday

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 18: Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate Kerala-European Union Blue Economy Conclave at The Leela Kovalam on Friday at 9.55 am, setting the stage for extensive deliberations on sustainable development of ocean-based growth and building partnerships.
The conclave, “Blue Tides-Two Shores One Vision,” is organized by the Department of Fisheries, Government of Kerala, in partnership with the Government of India and the European Union.
Minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs Shri Saji Cherian will preside over the inaugural ceremony, where Ambassador of the European Union to India and Bhutan Mr Hervé Delphin will deliver the keynote address.
Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Panchayati Raj, Will be the Guest of Honour at the function.
Shri George Kurian, Minister of State, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Minority Affairs, Government of India, will address the session.
Dr A Jayathilak, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala, will deliver the welcome address.
Shri K N Balagopal, Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Government of Kerala, Shri K Rajan, Minister for Revenue and Housing, Shri K Krishnankutty, Minister for Electricity, Shri V Sivankutty, Minister for General Education and Labour, Shri P Rajeeve, Minister for Law, Industries and Coir, Shri V N Vasavan, Minister for Cooperation, Ports and Devaswoms, Shri P A Mohamed Riyas, Minister for Public Works and Tourism, Shri G R Anil, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology, Shri M B Rajesh, Minister for Local Self Government, Dr R Bindu, Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, Smt Veena George, Minister for Health and Woman & Child Development and Shri V D Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition, Kerala, will be present.
Dr Shashi Tharoor MP, Shri Vincent George MLA, Smt Arya Rajendran, Mayor, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Shri M A Yusuff Ali, Chairman and Managing Director Lulu Group International, Shri Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and Shri Abdul Nasar, Special Secretary, Fisheries, will also attend.
The meet will be attended by delegates from EU countries, diplomatic personnel, policy makers, investors, academics, and trade union representatives to deliberate on a range of topics.
Key themes to be deliberated include building EU-Kerala partnership in marine logistics, marine fisheries, aquaculture, coastal tourism, renewable marine energy, and green technologies, promoting skill development, academic collaboration, labour mobility, policy innovation, joint R &D and startup innovation.
The topics to be covered by technical sessions include Coastal Development and Climate Resilient Infrastructures, Harbour Infrastructures, Ports, Logistics, Shipping and Connectivity Investments, Sustainable Fisheries, Aquaculture, Post-Harvest Management, Research and Investments, Green Transition: Circular Economy, Renewable/Clean Energy and Investments, ‘Education, Skills and Talent Mobility’ and ‘Coastal Tourism and Wellness (Ayush).
