Kerala to unveil 12 AYUSH projects on Ayurveda Day

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 22: Kerala will unveil 12 projects worth Rs. 14.39 crore on the annual Ayurveda Day on Tuesday (tomorrow), aimed at promoting Ayurveda and other indigenous systems of medicine coming within the ambit of AYUSH.
Most of these projects are already for operations and include comprehensive maternity care, an e-hospital covering 240 institutions, the AYUSH Yoga Club app to encourage daily yoga practice, and speciality clinics for non-communicable diseases.
Health, Women and Child Development Minister Veena George will inaugurate the state-level programme for the 10th Ayurveda Day and officially launch of these 12 projects at 4 PM at the Muscat Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.
Shri. VK Prashant, MLA, will preside over the function.
One of the key initiatives, Suthikamitram, is designed to provide scientific training to women in Ayurveda-based prenatal and postnatal care, ensuring that necessary services are available for mothers and children across the state.
Another important programme, Supraja, is a comprehensive maternal and child health initiative that aims to improve the health of women during pregnancy and postpartum, while ensuring the healthy growth of their children.
Over 10,000 yoga clubs currently operate in the state, promoting the importance of yoga in preventing lifestyle diseases. The AYUSH Yoga Club app has been developed to inform people about nearby yoga clubs.
The speciality clinics for non-communicable diseases are designed to provide comprehensive interventions that maximise Ayurveda's potential in preventing and controlling lifestyle-related illnesses.
The Ayurkarma scheme, available through the government's Ayurveda dispensaries, offers comprehensive Ayurvedic treatments, including Panchakarma, for economically disadvantaged individuals, with 25 new units being established in the state on Tuesday.
The Next Gen E Hospital system covers 240 institutions under the AYUSH department, allowing users to book outpatient appointments online and access their medical records with a single click.
The National Programme for Prevention and Management of Osteoarthritis and Other Musculoskeletal Disorders is a public health initiative aimed at preventing, controlling, and treating various musculoskeletal diseases, including osteoarthritis.
The speciality clinic for Joint and Musculo-Skeletal disorders will make the benefits of Ayurveda, which is particularly effective for joint diseases, available to the public.
The AYUSH Infertility Clinic is a comprehensive program designed to address infertility, launched in the districts of Kasaragod, Palakkad, and Thiruvananthapuram.
The Harsham program, designed to prevent, treat, and maintain mental health, has been initiated in Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kannur districts and now covers all districts of Kerala.
Additionally, the 'Drishti' program aims to expand access to eye treatment using Ayurveda. The facility for Ayurveda is expanding to all districts across Kerala.
Arogya Nauka is an Ayurvedic clinic set up on a motorboat to provide healthcare services to isolated islanders in Alappuzha district. This new unit will provide services in 26 different points in Kuttanad.
The Sports Ayurveda project leverages Ayurveda to treat sports injuries, with 10 new units being added to the existing 13 for this purpose, thus expanding this facility to all districts.
This year’s Ayurveda Day, celebrated under the inspiring theme “Ayurveda for People and Planet,” emphasizes Ayurveda’s crucial role in promoting health and wellness across diverse populations while advocating for sustainable practices that benefit individuals, communities, and the environment.
The Additional Chief Secretary for Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH, Dr. Rajan N. Khobragade, will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session, while Dr. D Sajith Babu, State Mission Director, National AYUSH Mission Kerala, will convey the Ayurveda Day message.
