“The conclave will serve as a vital forum to discuss the various challenges and opportunities associated with the Blue Economy,” Shri Cherian said.

“The concept emphasises sustainable utilisation and development of ocean resources, balancing economic growth with the necessity of preserving marine ecosystems' health.”

Sessions at the event will cover a wide range of topics, including marine fisheries, sustainable aquaculture, the development of coastal infrastructure, the principles of a circular economy, energy transition strategies, innovative port development, coastal tourism, and education and skill development initiatives.

A "country-first initiative," the conclave is designed to establish a global benchmark for sustainable development practices.

The state seeks to position itself as a vibrant and appealing destination for European investment, demonstrating its strategic advantages as a gateway to the emerging blue economy.

“The event is anticipated to facilitate interactive dialogue that explores synergies between Kerala's extensive Blue Economy and the EU's advanced research and policy frameworks,” the Minister said.

“The conclave provides a platform for strengthening partnerships between India, particularly Kerala, and the EU, promoting sustainable growth while positioning the state, with its long coastline, as a pivotal hub for collaboration and innovation in the sector.”
