Thiruvananthapuram, Sep. 06: The Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), recognised by its brand name Milma, has reached another milestone in sales of milk, curd, and various other dairy products during this year’s Onam season, reflecting strong customer preference for its high-quality offerings.

On Uthradam day, which marks the beginning of the Onam festivities, Milma outlets recorded impressive sales of 38,03,388 litres of milk and around 3,97,672 kgs of curd, surpassing the previous year’s figures of 37,00,209 litres of milk and 3,91,923 kgs of curd and emphasising the growing demand ahead of Thiru Onam.

In the five days leading up to the Uthradam, the cooperative dairy major reported total sales of 1,19,58,751 litres of milk, up from 1,16,77,314 litres and 14,58,278 kgs of curd, up from 13,76,860 kg, showing an average growth of around five per cent from the same period last year.

Thorough preparations and extensive supply chain management undertaken by Milma in anticipation of the festive rush triggered the surge. Milma’s ongoing efforts to enhance seasonal sales have positioned it as the market leader in dairy products within the state.

The sale of ghee – an essential ingredient in many Onam dishes – reached 863.92 tonnes for the season (Aug 1 to 31), up from the previous year’s figure of 663.74 tonnes, as households across Kerala began their extensive preparations for the celebratory feast, showing an impressive growth of 30 per cent.

Additionally, Milma outlets sold 127.16 tonnes of ghee during the past four days, taking the total figure to 991.08 tonnes.

To ensure a consistent supply of milk, curd, and related products during the Onam festivities, Milma executed meticulous planning well in advance, exploring all available procurement channels and logistics strategies to accommodate the heightened demand.

KCMMF Chairman Shri K.S. Mani said Milma has supplied 50-ml packs of ghee, which were included in the six lakh kits distributed through Supplyco.

Shri Mani added that Milma's ready-to-eat payasam and the payasam kits have also been well received by consumers.

Shri Mani expressed profound gratitude to the consumers for their unwavering loyalty to Milma products, acknowledging that this commitment played a crucial role in achieving such remarkable sales figures this Onam season.

He also extended his appreciation to the Federation's board of directors, three regional unions, management teams, dairy farmers, dedicated Milma employees, distribution vehicle personnel, and distributors for their hard work and invaluable contributions that facilitated this commendable performance.

“This record achievement reaffirms the immense consumer confidence in Milma’s staple products, which are widely recognised for their superior quality and efficient delivery, solidifying the brand's enduring legacy in Kerala’s dairy sector,” Shri Mani said.

Shri Mani also conveyed Milma’s and his warm wishes to Keralites around the world for Onam.
