Seethathode Kayaking Festival on September 2

Registration opens; Total prize money of Rs. 3,45,000

Thiruvananthapuram, August 26: The first edition of Kerala Tourism’s Seethathode Kayaking Festival will be held on September 2 at Seethathode, adding one more event on the adventure tourism calendar of the state.

The event is organised by Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) under the state Tourism Department. Technical support for the event is provided by the Kerala Kayaking Society and Canoeing Association.

The event offers prize money totalling Rs. 3.45 lakhs for competitions in various categories.

The competitions will be held in Moozhiyar river, starting at 10 am near Seethathode Fire Station at Konni in Pathanamthitta district.

The competitions will be held in Men, Women, Men doubles, women Doubles and Mixed categories. Kayakers above the age of 15 can participate.

First prize in the singles category comes with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 while runners up will receive a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 while second runners up receive Rs. 5,000.

Meanwhile, in the doubles category, winners will get a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 while runners up receive Rs. 25,000 and third prize winners get Rs. 10,000.

All participants will receive certificates.

Participants should wear life jackets. Kayaks, life jackets and paddles will be provided by the KATPS.
