Kozhikode / August 12, 2025
Kozhikode, Aug 12: Each move in football should amount to kicking the malaise of drugs out of society, Kozhikode South MLA Ahamed Devarkovil said today.
Such a sustained fight against narcotics and their increasing addiction among the youth must become part of the spirit of the sport, he said, speaking at a reception given at Devagiri College to ‘Pledge on Wheels’—a road trip against drug addiction.
Organized by Super League Kerala team Calicut FC, the campaign, which involves the participation of 30-odd schools and colleges in the city, began a week ago. It was flagged off at St. Michael's Higher Secondary School in West Hill on August 5.
Present at today’s ceremony were Kozhikode District Football Association Secretary Shajesh Kumar K, Devagiri College Principal Fr Dr Biju Joseph, Physical Education Director Fr Bony Augustine and Calicut FC Secretary Bino Jose Epan, who is the Vice President of IBS Group that owns the football club.
