Kozhikode / June 20, 2025

Kozhikode, June 20: Kozhikode, June 20: The country’s youth, particularly students, should work with the police to contain cybercrimes that are increasingly posing a threat to society, Kozhikode City Police Deputy Commissioner Arun K. Pavithran said today.

“Cyber security implies national security. Kozhikode is among the country’s 17 cybersecurity hotspots,” he said after inaugurating a National Cyber Security Conference in the city,

Noting that such an “informative conference is very important” in the current context, the official said the police’s challenge was to stay “one step ahead of the criminals” in terms of technology. “Such awareness programs are needed to effectively deal with the danger,” he pointed out at the event organized by the National Cyber Security Research Council (NCSRC) at UL Cyberpark.

“Today's young generation can identify issues and shortcomings related to cyber security. Through the Kerala Police's (technologica R&D centre) Cyberdome, they can point out such issues and participate in the fight against cybercrimes,” Pavithran said at the conference themed ‘Cyber India 2023, Innovation, Resilience, and Trust’.

NCSRC National Director Dr E. Khalieraaj said the Kerala Police's Cyberdome has been a model for the entire country. “Our industry and official institutions need to work together to guard us against cyber-attacks,” he noted.

NCSRC Kerala Coordinator Dr Prince Joseph pointed out that cyber security has in recent times been gaining “great importance” at the national level.
