Aster MIMS lift CFC Corporate Challenge Football cup; CAFIT runner-up

Kozhikode, May 18: Aster MIMS lifted the first-ever CFC Corporate Challenge Sevens Football Tournament cup, defeating CAFIT (Calicut Forum for IT) 4-2 in the final that ended up in a penalty shootout after the teams drew score 1-1 in the stipulated time.

At the Cyber Sports Arena in Government Cyberpark in the city, the two teams scored one goal each at the blow of the final whistle. This led to a shootout where Aster MIMS emerged the victor of the tournament held under the auspices of the Calicut Football Club.

Earlier, Peekay Steel became the second runner-up, beating Malabar FC 3-1, also in a penalty shootout, as both teams remained goalless in the stipulated time. Overall, 12 corporate teams are participating in the tournament that kicked off on May 9.

Shri Ahammed Devarkovil, MLA, distributed prizes to the winners. Cyberpark General Manager Vivek Nair, Colonel Korath Mathew, CEO, Calicut Fc and Bino Jose Eapen, Secretary Calicut FC was among others present at the ceremony.

The championship featured Calicut Press Club, Kenza TMT, myG, Highlight, Xpresso Global, Xylem Learning, Paragon and GTech, besides Malabar Group, CAFIT, Aster MIMS AND Peekay Steel.

The May 9 kick-off saw CAFIT beating HiLITE6-1.
