Over 30 companies keen to set up Global Capability Centres in Kerala

Trivandrum / May 15, 2025

Thiruvananthapuram, May 15: Over 30 global IT and ITeS companies have evinced keen interest in setting up their Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in Kerala, impressed by the state’s vibrant IT ecosystem.

Close on the heels of the Invest Kerala Global Summit, held on February 21-22 this year, the High Power IT Committee of the Government of Kerala has started discussions with the companies that have expressed interest in establishing GCCs or expand their operations in the state.

The High Power IT Committee has formed a consortium of 12 leading global consulting firms, which includes Everest Group, Avasant and ANSR, to support and guide the government’s efforts to transform Kerala into a GCC hub.

Several leading companies such as Mindtree, DSpace, HCLTech, Accenture, IBM, Armada, and Kai Semi Control Systems have already commenced their operations in the state, further validating Kerala’s growing prominence as a technology and innovation hub.

Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO of Technopark, stated that Kerala has emerged as a preferred destination for global firms particularly in its prominent cities like Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi to establish their Global Capability Centres (GCCs), owing to the state's robust digital ecosystem, talent pool availability, world-class infrastructure, supportive business environment, excellent startup ecosystem, mobility (Air, Rail, Road network), ESG measures, social fabric and sound governance. The state is becoming a product engineering hub, from its vibrant IT parks in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, strong talent pipeline availability based on excellent academia-industry connect (KTU, Digital University Kerala, ICTAK, MuLearn etc) and a thriving startup ecosystem under Kerala Startup Mission.

“The state has already the presence of GCC companies like IBM, Allianz, Nissan Digital, EY, NOV, Insight, H&R Block, Equifax, Accenture, Guidehouse, Icon, Safran, RM Education etc. to name a few, and is poised to accommodate more GCCs. Kerala is one of the most progressive states of our nation based on various social development indicators like highest HDI, literacy rate, per capita GDP, life expectancy, internet penetration, sustainability etc., and hence it’s the best place to work and live in our country” Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd) added.

One of the key recommendations at the Invest Kerala Global Summit 2025 was to develop an industry-specific strategy to attract GCCs. This envisages the state developing distinct investment destinations by crafting tailored strategies aligned with its core competencies, making it a highly attractive location for GCCs.
