Kerala Tourism to host ‘Wayanad Vibes’ on April 27

Wayanad, April 24: Bringing alive the unique culture, musical traditions and indigenous art forms of Wayanad, the Department of Tourism is organizing a mega musical event, ‘Wayanad Vibes’, on April 27at 5.30 pm at Valliyoorkkavu ground in Mananthavady, Wayanad, to showcase the cultural diversity of the picturesque district to the world. 

Apart from its captivating landscape, Wayanad boasts of its unique culture, artistic traditions and the event is aimed at showcasing these art forms and musical traditions before the world, Tourism Minister Shri PA Mohamed Riyas said.

“Wayand Vibes” will be a rejuvenating cultural experience. It will mark the confluence of the rhythm and traditional music of this land,” he added.

Shri Riyas noted that through such region-specific programmes, tourists will get an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the indigenous arts and music.

Filmmaker TK Rajeev Kumar has been roped in as the show director of the event.

Around 20 local artistes will perform ‘Thudithalam’, featuring indigenous art forms and rhythm of Wayanad, at the music show. Renowned percussionist Sivamani and celebrated musician Stephen Devassy will lead the musical performance where the rhythmic performances of 25 singarimelam artistes (drummers) from Attam Kalavedi will further create an electrifying atmosphere, fuelling the excitement among the spectators, who will also have the opportunity to showcase their musical talent. 

Another attraction of the event is the live concert led by popular playback singer Hari Charan and Star Singer fame Sikha Prabhakaran.

Shri Riyas and Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes Shri O.R. Kelu will attend the musical event. The programme will also see the presence of peoples’ representatives and prominent cultural personalities.
