Milma joins hands with OISCA to conduct quiz contest for school students

Thiruvananthapuram, July 24: Seeking to instill environmental awareness in young minds, OISCA International and Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), known by its brand name Milma, will be jointly conducting a mega quiz competition for high school students in the state.

Minister for General Education Shri V Sivankutty today unveiled the logo of the competition, titled “OISCA Milma Green Quest 2022, whose topper will get a chance to visit Japan as sponsored by OISCA, besides cash prizes, certificates and books for other high performers.

Milma Chairman Shri KS Mani, OISCA President Shri Ali Asgar Pazha, IAS; Milma Managing Director Dr. Patil Suyog Subhash Rao; OISCA Secretary Dr N Sudhodhanan, its district president R Ajayan and district secretary Shri Shaji Alexander attended the function held at the Minister’s official residence here.

A global environmental organisation based out of Japan, OISCA International (Organisation for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement) is collaborating with Milma to conduct the programme as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  

The contest will be open to classes 8 to 10 students of over 11,000 schools in Kerala. School authorities can select a team comprising two members. The competition will cover topics related to nature, agriculture, environmental issues, green initiatives, current affairs and Sustainable Development Goals.

Well-known quiz masters Shri GS Pradeep and Shri Sunil Devadatham will be planning the content of the competitions, which will be telecast on Kairali Channel.

While the school and district-level competitions will be held online, the three semi-finals and finals will be conducted offline. Competitions will be conducted in Malayalam/English with audio and visual inputs. Top teams in the district-level will compete in three zonal semi-finals. The zonal-level winners will move to the state-level finale.   

In the semi-finals, teams will be divided into three groups and they will compete with each other in three one-hour-long sessions. Two winners from each semi-final will vie in the one-and-a-half-an-hour grand finale. 

Winners of each semi-final will get Rs 20,000 and the second and third winners will get Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. All district-level winners will be given certificates of appreciation while zonal-level winners will get mementos and certificates.
