Kochi a goldmine for IT industry: Infopark CEO

Kochi / February 7, 2025

Kochi, Feb. 07: With the third phase of Infopark becomes a reality, Kochi will become a goldmine for the IT industry, Infopark CEO Susanth Kurunthil said today.

Gone were the days when educated youngsters left for farther pastures in search of good companies; inversely, companies are now coming to Kochi in search of talent, he said, while speaking at a discussion at CREDAI (The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India) Statecon in the city.

“Kochi has a skilled IT community. It can utilize this opportunity through excellent infrastructure,” he noted.

As global IT companies are increasingly considering shifting their headquarters to Kochi, the city’s administration, industry and IT ecosystem need to work together to create the right social environment, he said.

“The time has come for the industry to actively think about what our IT sector should be like in ten years’ time. It is imperative to complete the recommendations in a timely manner,” the CEO said. “The IT industry will not wait for anyone. Development in big cities is reaching its peak. Kochi should prepare itself with agile moves to fill this gap.”

Greater Cochin Development Authority Chairman K. Chandran Pillai, who participated in the discussion, said that with the Metropolitan Council coming into existence,  GCDA will have more responsibilities in infrastructure development. CREDAI Kochi former President M.V. Antony was the moderator.
