Fest showcasing films by IT fraternity; screening at Technopark on Jan. 18

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan.17:  The screening of short films made by IT employees of Technopark, Infopark and Cyber Park in the state, followed by the award ceremony, will be held at Technopark here on January 18 (Saturday).

Now into its 13th edition, the festival, ’PrathidhwaniQisa Film Festival 2024’ (PQFF 2024), is organized by Prathidhwani, the welfare and recreation forum of IT employees at Technopark, showcasing the films made by IT professionals.

As many as 32 short films of IT employees are vying for honours in the current edition of PQFF. The screening has been scheduled from 8 am to 6 pm, followed by the award ceremony at the Travancore Hall of Technopark at 7 pm..

Cultural artist and writer Soorya Krishnamoorthy will be the chief guest at the award ceremony . A documentary, ‘Njaanum…’, on Soorya Krishnamoorthy’s artistic and cultural career will be screened on the occasion.  

Noted film editor and former Vice Chairperson of Kerala State Chalachithra Academy Smt Beena Paul heads the Jury for PQFF 2024, sponsored by Kerala Vision Broadband. Actor and dubbing artiste Prof. Aliyar and director Shri Prasanth Vijay are the Jury Members.

The Best Short Film will receive a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and the Second Best Short Film, the Best Director and the Best Screenplay will get a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each. There will be special awards in the Best Actor, Actress, Cinematographer and Editor categories.

As part of PQFF 2024, screening of movies like ‘Kammattippadam,’ ‘Nirmalyam’, ‘The Lunch Box,’ ‘Churul,’ and ‘B32 to 44,’ short films that won laurels in SiGNS Fest and documentaries was held in association with Kerala State Chalachithra Academy and KSFDC. Besides, workshops on photography, acting and animation, mimicry, film quiz, music programme and standup comedy were also organised from January 6 to 16 at Inforpark, Kochi and Technopark here.

So far, PQFF, the only film festival exclusively for IT employees, has premiered around 600 short films in its earlier editions. The winners received awards from personalities like Shri Shaji N Karun (2012), Shri Vineeth Srinivasan (2013), Shri Adoor Gopalakrishnan (2014), Shri Shyamaprasad (2015), Shri Jayaraj (2016), Shri. Dileesh Pothen (2017), Shri Amal Neerad (2018), Shri Khalid Rahman (2019) Shri Vidhu Vincent(2020), Shri Jeo baby (2021), Shri MF Thomas(2022) and Shri TK Rajeev Kumar(2023) in previous years.
