Ayurveda gains huge popularity in Israel, says delegate at WAC 2024

Dehradun / December 14, 2024

DehradunDec. 14: The political unrest has toppled the healthcare sector of her country, but it has not deterred Israeli Ayurveda practitioner Mrs Shani Ariav from visiting the 10th edition of the World Ayurveda Congress (WAC 2024) and Arogya Expo to explore the emerging possibilities in the traditional medicine system that has gained huge popularity in her country.

In fact, she has inked deals with two Indian companies in the Buyer-Seller segment of the four-day event at the Parade Ground here. She also signed an MoU with an Ayurveda college in South India.

“I’m looking for building collaborations with colleges and universities in India through the Ayush Department. A tie-up with Mangaluru-based Easy Ayurveda will be firmed up soon,” she revealed.

Mrs Ariav, mother of three children, has been practising Ayurveda for the last 20 years. She is also the Academic Director of Prana Veda Ayurvedic School of Israel.

Mrs Ariav said the political conflict in her country has adversely affected everything including the healthcare system. She said more people have realised Ayurveda as a powerful healing system and awareness campaigns are being conducted in Israel with the help of Indian Embassy to strengthen the foothold of Ayurveda there.

A scholarship holder from a reputed institution in Pune, Mrs Ariav is also an exponent of yoga.

Foreign delegates from countries like Russia, Uzbekistan, Mauritius, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, USA, Canada, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, Uganda and Ghana also participated in the Buyer-Seller Meet of the December 12-15 event.

Mr Kwaku Duah, a pharmacy owner from Ghana, said he preferred to import herbal medicines from India than China.

According to him, drugs from India are chemical-free and the Ayurveda medicinal system is gradually becoming popular in Ghana. Citing his brother’s successful kidney treatment in India, Mr Duah said he got the opportunity to explore Ayurveda more during his visit to WAC 2024.

With its focal theme ‘Digital Health, An Ayurveda Perspective’, the December 12-15 event has set the stage for in-depth deliberations on leveraging new technologies to more effectively deliver solutions and reconfigure R&D projects relating to Ayurveda.

The largest international conclave of Ayurvedic practitioners, researchers, administrators, diplomats, teachers and students, the biennial event is organised by the World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF), an initiative of Vijnana Bharati, Uttarakhand government and Ayush Ministry, Government of India.

More than 9000 participants are taking part in the event, which includes about 320 overseas delegates from 58 countries.
